As many of you may have noticed, I have had a small hiatus from blogging. It is not because I don’t want to blog, I do! But I just have not had much time over the recent weeks. A lot of factors in my personal life have come up, and I honestly have had zero motivation. So, I’m here to fill you in on what has been going on since you last heard from me.
First of all, throughout the majority of April, I was celebrating my birthday locally, traveling to Columbus, Ohio to visit some family, and settle on a place to live for our big move to Orlando. We even attended end of law school events and banquets.
In May, my in-laws traveled by plane for the first time ever to Florida for Rasheem’s law school graduation. Our dear friend, Alisha made the commencement speech — and of course I boo-hoo cried. It was so good and I was so proud of both of them that day. I yelled, “Queens Get the Money” as they announced Rasheem’s name on the big jumbo screen. We wrapped up graduation weekend by throwing a BBQ, and then we hit up the Championship Tour in Tampa. I wish our family could have stayed longer, but alas, life caught up and everyone had to return home. We made the most of our time together though and had plenty of laughs, ate amazing food thanks to Rasheem’s chef-like capabilities, and of course played some spades. My father in-law has called Rasheem several times after the trip that he couldn’t wait to come back to visit. He even opened his heart to be in the same room with Pepper (he fears dogs).
The month of June was all about moving preparations and everything in between. Nothing too exciting was happening. I was definitely taking it all in. I spent one weekend hanging out with my fitness friends, while many other weekends was spent with family. I forgot to mention — I chopped my hair! Okay, I lied — that was exciting! We even spent 24 hours with Rasheem’s firm in Clearwater Beach, Florida for a retreat where he was introduced as one of the new hires.
I was also able to start bringing boxes to our new place in Orlando. It definitely helped the move by me driving down to sort and organize our new spot while Rasheem studied for the Florida bar. We had to do two big moves as you never know how much stuff you have until you move. It was exhausting, but we did it. I am so grateful for my family that helped us, as we did not hire professional movers this time around.
As we just celebrated America’s birthday yesterday, and officially been in our new place for five days, we are back to our normal schedule as it’s only Thursday, and I didn’t see the need to take any days off this week. Rasheem has been hard at work for the past two months as he studies for the Florida bar. It has been no joke the amount of dedication one puts in — 8 to 10 hour study days with little to no days off. He comes out for air every so often, but it’s hard for one not to think about bar prep. These past few months were truly amazing, and stressful all at the same time. I don’t know how we did it — but we freaking did it!
The countdown for the Florida Bar in Tampa, FL is now less than three weeks away. Wish us luck!
