I’m kicking off my first blog post with an ode to my husband as we will be celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary together.
We made it! ♥ Whew! 75 more years to go!
We usually decide a couple of months ahead which route we will go for the anniversary gift theme. For those of you that are unaware of wedding gifts by the year — there’s a traditional and modern theme. So far we have stuck with the traditional theme — which is hilarious to me as nothing screams traditional about us at all (Maybe subconsciously we are? Who even knows).
I remember back in 2012 when I was planning our wedding. I kept coming across charts that listed anniversary gifts by the year. And thought to myself, “Oh how cute! I would love to start a tradition like this with Rasheem”. We both weren’t raised in a traditional household so when we chose to get married that was a common goal we wanted to have together. It’s also a fun and creative way to come up with ideas on what to get your spouse. But there’s no denying that the stress of finding something special while staying under budget is a challenge. After our first year of marriage my husband decided to attend law school which meant we were (and have been) ballin’ on a budget.
I thought it would be a great idea to put together an affordable list with a range of items all under $100 that reflect the fourth year of marriage gifts: Flowers/Fruits, Linen or Appliances.
- Bake a yummy cake! Here’s an idea: Chocolate Cake with Raspberry buttercream.

Aprons for couples – a his and hers set. Being that I am the professional taster in our kitchen I really wouldn’t mind getting the side-eye from my husband as I slipped this apron on while he was getting his cook-on. Plus it would make for a cute picture for the ‘gram! Hashtag #RAZANDJESS
